In July, the idea of late September cricket, is a good one, as we're all in form at the time, and are pretty good at convincing ourselves that the Indian Summer will fall on the very day in September where we're playing!
Today's fixture against Asian Sports is one we should remember NEXT July as a cautionary tale...
The morning sunshine gave way to cloud and drizzle, almost as soon as captain James Sheath won the toss and decided to bat, and that small victory was about the last for Fleckney in the game.
The innings started pretty well, with Sid Pillalamarri and James Bide-Thomas reaching 30 for almost no dramas but then four wickets went down for seven runs and suddenly there was a building job for Bobby Upple and Yakesh Sachdev to do.
To be fair, they did it pretty well, adding 72 for the fifth wicket with both taking advantage of the short boundary on one side of the ground to hit a few maximums.
Bobby reached his 50 and Yak got 29 but then another four wickets fell in rapid succession before Captain Sheath and Wicket keeper Jules Rodger batted out the overs to leave the home side on 147/8.
In some Sunday games that's been enough, or at least has led to a competitive chase, this wasn't one of those Sundays! It was of course, a Saturday.
Asian Sports reached the target for the loss of one wicket inside 20 overs, with Bide-Thomas capturing the one batsman who didn't retire (with his first delivery no less) thanks to Andy Holmes's catch in the deep.
Sam Hill again bowled an encouraging spell, particularly in the face of some aggressive batting from one of their openers and seven bowlers were used but sadly the result was never in doubt.
