An Ode to the Snow

A Sunday friendly started but abandoned after 20 overs due to a snow downpour (and two admittedly easy catches dropped).

However our report is a tribute to both the conditions and the VIP who played for our worthy opponents.

Mr Roving Reporter, over to you.

Hoggy the snowman was a legend they all say Beat the Aussie boys, made some county noise Played at Fleckney on Sunday Hoggy the snowman was down to bat at four

He didn’t frown as the catches went down So he sat on his arse some more There must have been some magic in that old cherry that they found For when they placed it in Sam and Ben’s hand

It began to move around Hoggy the snowman Was unassuming as could be And Duckhunters say he’d laugh

And play just the same game as you and me Hoggy the snowman Knew the sun was hostage that day So he said

Let's run and We'll have some fun Before the players freeze away Down to the village

With a broomstick in his hand Running here and there all Around the square saying Sweep it if you can

He led them to the veranda of the sports centre As the snow filled with dismay And Barkby only paused a moment when Only huskies could really play!

Thumpity-thump-thump Thumpity-thump-thump Look as players go Thumpity-thump-thump Thumpity-thump-thump

Over the hills of snow Hoggy the snowman was a jolly happy soul With a friendly team and a season dream And no hypothermia as a goal

Hoggy the snow man Had to hurry on his way But he waved goodbye saying Don't you cry I'll be back on a much warmer day!
