The Skipper's Mam is a HERO

This afternoon a pick and mix of the Fleckney 1s and the 2s travelled over to Medbourne in and end of season friendly.

A few of notes about Medbourne, the pitch is lovely to bat on, they have the talent to bat on it, that talent is probably called Clarke, and the boundaries are not the biggest in the world. They are also a decent bunch and they purchased a jug of lager for us after the match so we can have no complaints about our day.

Regular 1st team skipper Adam Chilton decided that it was time he allowed one of the rank and file take the reigns so the task fell to Samit Kanji to lead this merry band. Just win the toss Sammy AND BAT!!

FVCC bowled first (cheers skip!!) and the runs began to flow with Fin Clarke getting 49, Nigel Clarke 56, James Clarke 64, Harry Clarke 32, and Fergus Clarke 45* - i feel sorry for George Clarke as he didn't get a chance to bat! For the Fleckers, honorable mentions for Jason Nicholson (1-22) and Sam Hill (1-21) being the only 2 guys who went for less than 5 per over. Unusually for Fleckney we actually took some catches with Chilton (2), Sam Payne, and James Sheath all taking efforts in the field.

303 was the target and it was important that the skipper got us off to a good start - we all wished him well and then strangely in the 2nd over he was sat down next to us again - must have retired hurt... (or smashed it to mid on just 100 runs short of his century....). This 2nd over was a horror show as both Brijj Barot and Chris Hill also lost their wicket in it. 6-3 after 12 deliveries...

This soon become 35-6 before a rear guard action from Skipper Kanji and Bobby Upple bought Fleckney up to nearly 100 before Kanji was LBW for 23, Nicholson added 15 alongside Bobby's 53* as FVCC closed on 152/8 with the target 50% complete.

Final word MUST go to the Skipper's mum...
